This hand building workshop will be a demonstration and hands-on experience in making functional whimsical teapots and volumetric forms. The emphasis is on seeing, and understanding the visual and tactile language of pottery and encouraging you to explore your inner whimsy. No prior experience is necessary. Sharon has taught her methods with small children as well as adults. Pinch pots, coil, slab and assembling methods will be demonstrated to articulate more complex forms.
Part two will be a demonstration on the attention given to surface and color. Using Amaco velvet underglazes, Sharon will reveal how to achieve depth with color. She will show painting on green ware as well as layering stain and underglaze on the bisque ware and will offer stimulating discussions of form, surface, and color.
